What Sydney Removalists Actually Charge in 2026 ----------------------------------------------- Sydney removalists work on two pricing models. Local moves within metropolitan Sydney are almost always hourly. Anything 80 km or further (Wollongong, Newcastle, Blue Mountains, interstate) typically switches to a flat rate. [Inner West Council](https://www.innerwest.nsw.gov.au/parking-and-rangers/parking-permit) takes around **two weeks to process** permit applications and **does not issue permits for trucks over 3 tonne GVM**. Most full removalist trucks exceed that limit, so for inner-west moves the truck has to park further away and your crew carries items further. That long-carry typically adds **$1.50 per metre** to your bill, so a 200-metre carry adds $300. Eastern Suburbs (Bondi, Bronte, Coogee, Vaucluse, Double Bay) have a separate restriction: **trucks longer than 7.5 metres or heavier than 4.5 tonnes can only park in built-up areas for 1 hour without a specific permit**. Get the lift slot from strata first, then book the removalist for that exact day. Crews working with a booked lift complete in half the time of crews queuing for residential lift access. ### Move mid-week, mid-month, off-peak season Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday between the 6th and 24th of any month, ideally May-September, gets the best rates. End-of-month, weekends, summer school holidays and December-January peak rates 15-25% higher.
